Drink of the Day: La Bomba

August 11, 2015 | By | Add a Comment

When I am enjoying an alcoholic beverage, I tend to go with a mixed drink that introduces each ingredient and exposes every flavor each item has to offer.  However, there are some who enjoy feeling the liquor, yet hide the taste of it while quenching their thirst.  This cocktail would be the latter.

There are reasons why we have choices when it comes to enjoying a beverage.  All of us have different tastes, as we do when it comes to what we eat, what we wear, where we live, etc.  Without these individual distinctions, this would be a very vanilla world.  Hell, if you want to put ketchup on a filet, have at it.  You are the one who is enjoying it and it should be you to enhance it any way you want.  Same goes with your choice of cocktail.  There are billions of options when preparing a drink.  It is always best enjoyed when you are having something that fits your taste.

This is a tequila based drink.  I do have to admit, when drinking this, it is hard to find the flavor of the tequila at all.  However, do not let that fool you.  There is enough in this to do some damage, so be sure to enjoy each sip by taking your time and follow the rules of engagement as if you were drinking the tequila on the rocks.

This is a great summertime treat while enjoying a gathering with friends.  A flavor-filled beverage that is fitting with these dog days of summer.  Cheers!

Method:  Take a chilled cocktail glass, that will become the finish glass, and moisten the rim with a lime.  Dip the rim into a saucer of sugar to layer the rim.  Set this glass to the side.  Combine all ingredients, except the sugar, into a mixing glass filled with ice.  Cap with a tin and shake well.  Strain into the sugar-layered chilled cocktail glass.  Garnish with a lime half-wheel on the rim of the glass.
