“From the Bottle, Up!”  will feature us designing an entertainment room with a fully stocked bar.  Our mission:  1)Designing a room with a $2000 budget in thirteen weeks.  2) With a budget of $50 per week, build up a bar stock.  3)  Show drinks that can be made with the stock we build up weekly.  Along with this, we will have appetizers and other food ideas that will only enhance the experience.  It’s going to be a lot of fun!  Here’s the link:

The Keoke Coffee is my favorite coffee drink.  The combination of brandy and Kahlua, along with the hint of chocolate, tastes as if they were meant to be together.  The warmth of the coffee only puts an exclamation point on all the flavors that will be dancing in your mouth, from the first sip to the very last.  Warm your inner being by enjoying one of the best coffee cocktails ever created.  Cheers!

Keoke Coffee

3/4 oz. Coffee Liqueur (Kahlua)

3/4 oz. Brandy

Hot Coffee

Whipped Cream

Dark Crème de Cacao

Method:  Begin by pouring the measured amounts of coffee liqueur and brandy in an Irish coffee mug.  Pour the hot coffee into the glass, to about a 1/2 inch from the top.  Take two stir sticks and lay them atop the mug.  This will give you a structure for the whipped cream you are now going to add atop the drink.  Pour some dark crème de cacao on top of the whipped cream.

I have pretty much given up on the idea of calling these types of drinks “cocktails”.  So, here’s a nice and fruity drink I came up with for a friend who wanted a little more than the apple-tini.  This is for those of you that like it sweet, but want to get the pleasure of knowing that they will be completely satisfied with just having one.  Cheers!

Cranapple Martini

1 1/2 oz. Vodka

3/4 oz. Triple Sec

3/4 oz. Apple Pucker

1/2 oz. Sour Mix

3/4 oz. Cranberry Juice

Method:  Pour all the measured ingredients into a shaker with ice.  Cap off and shake until cold.  Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.  Garnish with an apple slice and maraschino cherry.

Cranberry Juice

Lemonade

Method:  In a highball glass filled with ice, add the measured amount of the cherry infused vodka, followed by equal parts of cranberry juice and lemonade.  Garnish with a wedge of lemon.

Just like the boilermaker and the Flaming Dr. Pepper, this is meant to be drank in one guzzle, so be very careful when drinking these.  You will surely want to police your own drinking with these.  In fact, you may want to be sure you are set with a ride home before venturing down this road.  I know I would!  Play it safe and have fun!  Cheers!

Lunch Box Shooter

1/2 pint of American Pilsner or Lager Beer

1 oz. Orange Juice

3/4 oz. Amaretto

3/4 oz. Canadian Whiskey (or whatever you prefer)

Method:  Pour yourself a half pint of a lighter beer, such as an American Pilsner or Lager, into a pint glass.  Pour an ounce of orange juice into the beer.  Set the glass to the side.  In a shot glass, pour equal parts of amaretto and whiskey.  To drink this, drop the shot glass into the pint glass with the beer.  Proceed to drink it all down.

This is a very simple drink to make.  The flavor combination will not dissatisfy.  Just be sure to leave some room for the apple pie.

Grandma’s Candy

1 1/2 oz. Vanilla Infused Vodka

Orange Juice

1/2 oz. Raspberry Liqueur (Chambord)

3 Fresh Raspberries for garnish.

Method:  You build this in an old fashioned glass filled with ice.  Add the measured amount of vodka.  Pour in orange juice to about a half and inch from the rim of the glass.  Top off with a half ounce of raspberry liqueur.  Garnish with three fresh raspberries.

I’m surprised these “mash” style drinks went out of style.  These beat out the infusions and molecular style beverages as far as I’m concerned.  But, as I always say, I am not the one who needs to make this decision.  You will be the one drinking it.  Judge for yourself.  At the very least, I know you will not be dissatisfied.  Cheers!

Ripley Cocktail

10 – 12 Fresh Red Raspberries

Juice of one Lemon

1 Tsp. Sugar

2 oz. Vodka

1 oz. Triple Sec

Method:  Begin by putting the sugar and raspberries into a mixing glass.  Muddle thoroughly until there is a uniformed blend.  Squeeze in the lemon and muddle again.  In a shaker tin filled with ice, add the measured amounts of vodka and triple sec.  Cap off with the mixing glass with the muddled ingredients and shake for a good ten seconds or longer.  Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.  Twist a rind of lemon over the drink and rub the rim with it before dropping it into the drink.

Flaming shots are not very common today because it is now against the law to ignite shots due to the laws that have been put in place.  Too many people have caught themselves on fire in the past and it has become a safety hazard.  So, you may have to make these at home.  Enjoy!

Lemon Drop Shooter

1 oz. Vodka

1/2 oz. Galliano

151 Rum

1 Tsp. Sugar

Half Wheel of Lemon that will fit comfortably on top of a shot glass

Matches or Lighter

Method:  Pour vodka into the shot glass, filling it to 2/3 of the glass.  Pour galliano in, leaving some room when pouring the 151 rum, which you’ll be doing in a second.  Take the half wheel of lemon and lay in on top of the shot glass.  Put the sugar on top of the lemon.  Gently pour the 151 rum on top of the lemon, making sure you soak the sugar on top.  Ignite the lemon, allowing it to burn until you have the sugar carmelized, then blow out.  To shoot this drink, drink the contents of the shot glass, then suck on the lemon.  Give the lemon time to cool down before doing this shot.

Pancake Breakfast

1 oz. Irish Whiskey

1/2 oz. Butterscotch Schnapps

1 1/2 oz. Orange Juice

Method:  In a port glass, pour in the measured amounts of Irish whiskey and butterscotch schnapps.  In a separate glass, pour in the measured amount of orange juice.  To drink, shoot down the liquor, followed by the orange juice.
