I need to know your thoughts…

September 22, 2015 | By |

After years of my addiction, I am planning on quitting smoking this coming Friday.  This has been something I have wanted to do for some time, yet have hesitated due to something happening in my life that stopped me from quitting.  Well, that was the excuse anyway.

I am asking you this, because I want your permission to do this on this platform before I get started.  I would like to write a daily blog on my ups and downs on kicking this habit.  Yes, it will mean me writing on here what I am going through and all that.  This would be in addition to my Drink of the Day.

Would it be alright for me to do this on here, or would you rather me start another blog site and do it on another platform?

There are some pros and cons to doing the blog on this site.  First the pros:  Number one pro is that I would attract a bigger audience for the Drink of the Day, meaning I would be able to attract sponsors and advertisers to assist me in making the overall site bigger and better for those who want to see me do more with the Drink of the Day.  Secondly…well, this could be a pro or a con….you would get two emails from me a day instead of one.  You would get to see what it takes for someone with this addiction for over thirty years goes through to kick the habit.  And it may help you kick your habit, no matter what that habit may be.

The cons are that, for one, I am going out of my element and may turn off some of you who could care less about my addiction.  And, secondly, you would be getting more than one email from me daily.

Please, let me know your thoughts and, no matter what, wish me luck on quitting this ugly habit.

Thanks for your time!!

I think that whatever is better for you Shaun the people who get your daily drink of the day would want to be there for you to help see you through this. This way, just as you inform us of things that happened this day in history, we can look forward to what’s happening in your day and so each day give back to you our support. I know you will be as committed to this as you are about everything you do. I Love You Son.

Shaun No offense but I don’t know you personally so reading daily about your efforts to quit smoking would not interest me. Maybe a weekly short update on your drink of the day would make more sense. Good luck

Shaun, first, I love your Drink of the Day. It’s always creative and interesting, and it’s a treat in my inbox that’s usually filled with other to-do items.

Second, I quit smoking seven years ago, and it was the best thing I’ve ever done. Congratulations on making the decision to do it! I wish you the best of luck.

Third, it’s always easier to make changes when you have a group of people cheering you on, so I would like to see you updates on the ups and downs of your journey. So my vote is for you to keep it as a side portion of your blog and send out the emails. If someone doesn’t want to read them, they can easily delete the email. My other thought is that drinking and smoking go so naturally together, so it just makes sense.

    Cheers and good luck!!!

Hey Shaun, I have attempted and failed more times than I’m willing to admit to kick my tobacco habit. A time I quit the longest was when I had the most people holding me accountable and supporting me. I think this is a great idea and would welcome another e-mail in my inbox.

Regardless, best of luck to you! You will be an inspiration for me to attempt to quit yet again.

    Hey Shaun.
It’s Tim, I also the guy promoting your good book on twitter with pictures. Hey good luck!!!! I smoke but it’s organic, all natural, American Spirit. I probably need to quit to. I smoke 1 pack about every 2 days. like many teens do, although I’m not a teen. This Friday? I think you’ll just might make it! I’m going to keep my figures crossed for ya!!!! They say if you can get past the first two days, the rest is easy. Wish you the best of luck!!!!

    • I have decided to hold off until October 3. I have a better chance to be successful if I do it then. Once I start, I will begin the daily blog. I know this may turn off some people, but this is the only way I know I will stick with it.

Just now reading about your quest, as i’m behind in my e-mails. Just want to say good luck. I quit myself a few years ago. It gets easier as time goes by. Cheers to your resolve!
