The Golden Glove Cocktail is July 9th Drink of the Day!!

When this day happened, it was a very controversial move by Bud Selig. The Commissioner of baseball deciding to end the All-Star game in a tie in the eleventh inning in 2002 was looked at as one of the biggest blunders in the history of baseball at the time. It also made everyone realize just how unimportant the game was to the people involved. Mr. Selig had a very good reason for stopping the game. Both teams had run out of pitchers, and position players would have to fill that role. Read More >>

The Chi Chi Cocktail is July 7th Drink of the Day!!

It was a bitter day for Native Hawaiians on this day in 1898 when President William McKinley signed the Newlands Resolution, annexing Hawaii as a territory of the United States. The royal family of the islands was overthrown five years earlier and due to debt and scandals caused, the islands were more or less backed into a corner. In fact, in 1993, 100 years after the fall of the Kingdom of Hawaii, President Bill Clinton signed the Apology Resolution to recognize this and to see that Native Read More >>

The “Original” and current-day Hurricane Cocktail are July 6th Drinks of the Day!!

To be honest, I have never really been a fan of this cocktail due to its overly sweet flavor. However, I’ve been asked to make this the drink of the day, so I began doing some research to find the “original” recipe for this New Orleans’ classic cocktail. I’m happy I did. I’m amazed that they changed from the original recipe. A simple, yet refreshing cocktail was born at Pat O’Brian’s in the 1940s. It has since changed to a premix that Pat Read More >>

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!

With the way things are nowadays, one has to wonder what this day means today versus what it meant when our Founding Fathers penned their names onto the Declaration of Independence. I would assume we probably have many of them spinning in their graves. I, myself, am one to believe we ALL have the freedoms to become what we want, even if bureaucratic and political ways tend to make these dreams seem far away at times. It is still us who have to make the Read More >>

The Gettysburg Address is July 3rd Drink of the Day!!

On this day in 1863, the battle that would be considered the turning point to the Civil War, would end. The Battle of Gettysburg would only last three days, with Confederate forces running very low on ammunition, they would retreat and this battle seemed to take the life out of the Confederate Army. Three and a half months later, President Lincoln would give his two minute speach which is still, to this day, considered one of the best speaches ever given. By April the following year, Read More >>

The Armageddon Cocktail is July 2nd Drink of the Day!!

The world would lose one of the most prolific minds of its day on this date in 1566, when Nostradamus, (born Michel de Nostredame), would pass away in France. By the time he passed away, he was locally known as a healer, supposedly coming up with a “rose pill” that would protect you from the plague that had been taking many lives in Europe during the 1530s. His first wife and his two children were victims of this themselves. He was, and still is, known as a seer. His book Les Read More >>

The Income Tax Cocktail is July 1st Drink of the Day!!

Ah yes, the dreaded income tax. We are all well aware on how much money this takes out of our take-home every pay. Amazing that the politicians in Washington can sleep at night knowing that they are actually spending more than what we’re giving to them. Now, after years of undisiplined spending and countless bad decisions based on political lines, we find that we will be probably paying much more sooner than later. Alright, enough of my own political views - and people wonder Read More >>
