The Brenda is January 23rd Drink of the Day!!
This is a cocktail I came up with for a lady who is dating the sous-chef at the establishment I work at in the evening. She is a huge fan of rye whiskey and wanted to have a cocktail that would compliment its flavor, not hide it. The tawny port was a great secondary ingredient, in my opinion, due to its sweetness and bold flavor. It would be strong enough to take away the harshness of the whiskey itself without losing the rye flavor. The other ingredients tied it all together nicely.
Brenda was so pleased with the drink, I decided to name it after her. It just so happens that my wife’s name is Brenda as well, so she gets some billing on this too for tolerating me all these years. A nice and smooth sipper you can enjoy on a cold evening, enjoying a hot fire while winding down after a long day. Enjoy every sip!
