The Cable Car is March 6th Drink of the Day!!

March 6, 2014 | By | Add a Comment

No doubt that most of you have heard of the Side Car Cocktail. Where that is made with the base ingredient of brandy, the Drink of the Day today uses spiced rum for it’s base. Another difference is the secondary ingredient of this drink, the Orange Curacao. Unlike the Cointreau used in the Sidecar, the orange curacao is not shy in representing itself in this beverage. Be sure to not go overboard with this ingredient. In fact, I would maybe tone it down a little from the recipe given, so this ingredient flows more steadily with the other flavors you will enjoy. As I say more than you probably want to hear, you are adding ingredients to help showcase the main act.

A nice mingling, sipping, cocktail that goes down easy; maybe too easy. Just watch your intake on this one…..and don’t forget to buy some extra lemons. You will be using them up with this one.

Cable Car

2 oz. Spiced Rum

3/4 oz. Orange Curacao

1/2 oz. Simple Syrup

Juice of one Lemon

Method: In a mixing glass filled with ice, pour in the first three ingredients to measure. Squeeze in the juice of one lemon. Cap with a tin and shake well. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a lemon wheel placed on the rim of the glass.
