Couldn’t find anything to match with the history, so I figured I’d find something that would be nice and tropical for a nice summer’s day. I found it in the Caribou Lou. Rapper Tech N9ne sings about this cocktail in his song titled the same, introducing you to the ingredients he uses when making up a jug of this. I have condensed it down to what I feel is a good combination when introducing it as an individual cocktail. Enjoy, but be careful! The 151 will do a number on you if you’re not careful.

The Caribou Lou
1 1/2 oz. 151 Rum
3/4 oz. Coconut Rum
Pineapple Juice

Method: Begin by pouring the rums into a highball glass filled with ice. Top off with pineapple juice. Stir and serve.

This day in history:
1543 - King Henry VIII married his sixth and final wife, Catherine Parr.
1690 - Protestant William of Orange defeated Roman Catholic James II at the Battle of Boyne, in Ireland.
1862 - The Congressional Medal of Honor, the United States’ highest military award recognizing uncommon valor, was authorized by Congress.
1982 - Democratic Presidential nominee, Walter Mondale, became the first major-party candidate to choose a woman as a running mate, when he chose Geradine Farraro.

Notable Birthday:
George Eastman, American innovator and entrepreneur who founded the Eastman Kodak Company and invented roll-film which would pave the way for photography to become a hobby for all, was born on this day in 1854.

Notable Quote:
“What we do during our working hours determines what we have; what we do during our leisure hours determines what we are.” - George Eastman
