Sometimes the presentation is more than the actual experience when it comes to drinking a cocktail. Not trying to take away from this interesting bourbon cocktail. The chocolate and lemon back flavor you get with every sip makes you realize that more should be done in creating cocktails with bourbon. The secondary ingredients in this not only assist with their own flavor; they also bring out the whiskey’s finer attributes. If you are a bourbon imbiber already, you will have no problem sipping on this creation.

This cocktail is one of many that were named the same back in the 1930s. This one is my favorite. Using a champagne flute to showcase this fine drink, it will surely be a hit at your next soiree. Cheers!

Commodore Cocktail

2 oz. Bourbon Whiskey

3/4 oz. Creme de Cacao

1/4 oz. Grenadine

Juice from 1/2 Lemon

Method: In a mixing glass filled with ice, pour in the first three ingredients to measure. Squeeze in the juice from half a lemon, discarding the remnants after doing so. Cap with a tin and shake well. Strain into a champagne flute. Take a twist of lemon and rub it gently on the rim of the glass, then drop it into the cocktail.
