Drink of the Day: Apple Pie Cocktail

November 25, 2014 | By | Add a Comment

Here’s a great aperitif for you for the coming holiday weekend. It uses an ingredient that’s been used since the colonial era of the United States. Applejack is a great ingredient, one you rarely see in today’s cocktails. You will question why once you taste this drink. A perfect compliment to the main act in this, the light rum.

Another beverage to add to your cocktail hour for your Thanksgiving guests. Applejack got it’s name by the process for which this product was made back during the colonial period, when they would naturally evaporate distill or freeze distill the apples to get the final product. “Jacking” as what it once was called, is no longer done. Laird’s Applejack, the product I use for this cocktail in the video, does not use this process but it still gives you the taste. I highly recommend it.

Let’s get to the Drink of the Day, shall we? A nice flavor of apple for your dessert, without getting your fork dirty. Enjoy your Tuesday!

Apple Pie

1 1/2 oz. White Rum

1/2 oz. Applejack

1/2 oz. Sweet Vermouth

Juice of half a Lemon
