Drink of the Day: The Belize

November 4, 2014 | By | Add a Comment

I had the opportunity to try out a brand of rum that compliments this cocktail very well.

Tiburon Rum is made from sugar cane molasses, then aged for no less than four years in Kentucky Oak bourbon barrels, this has a nice boldness that you can love as a rum drinker with it’s rum backbone, and appreciate being a lover of bourbon, with hints of vanilla added to it to round out its flavor. Tiberon Rum comes in 4, 6, and 8 year blends and is the only premium aged rum from Belize available in the United States.

Being a lover of a good bourbon and someone who drinks rum as often as possible, I knew that I wouldn’t be disappointed. I came up with a cocktail that is the same as a Manhattan but uses Tiburon Rum as the main act in the cocktail instead of the bourbon. A truly nice combination of ingredients gives you a nice sipper to enjoy during cocktail hour.

Hope you enjoy today’s Drink of the Day as much as I did. Cheers!

2 - 3 Dashes of Peychaud Bitters

Method: Build this in an old fashioned glass filled with ice by adding the measured amounts of each of the ingredients. Stir. Add a twist of orange and a maraschino cherry for garnish.
