Drink of the Day: The Berry Pear Cocktail

February 14, 2015 | By | Add a Comment

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Today, I am reintroducing a cocktail I came up with last year for this event. Your loved one will appreciate the effort you put into this one. A naturally flavored treat that will go well as an after-dinner beverage. Nothing says “I Love You” more than something that you will put an effort in creating for that special someone.

When I originally made this, I used Cointreau. However, I have since found an orange liqueur that I feel may work better with this drink. Yes, Cointreau can still be used. But, if you have an opportunity to use Borducan Orange Italian liqueur in place of it, if it is available in your area, I suggest you do. The flavor of orange in this liqueur comes popping out. You will enjoy it’s natural flavor. It will fit well with the fresh berry and pear being part of this cocktail.

Hope you have a wonderful day with your loved one. Cheers!

Berry Pear

1/4 of a pealed and diced Pear

4 Fresh Raspberries

1/2 oz. Simple Syrup

1 oz. Vodka

1/2 oz. Borducan Orange Liqueur or Cointreau

Soda Water

Splash of Maraschino Liqueur

Method: In a mixing glass, put in the pealed and diced pear with the fresh raspberries. Add the simple syrup and vodka. Pulverize the ingredients with a toothed muddler until you get a good blend. Add ice. Add the Cointreau. Cap with a tin and shake well. Strain the mixture into a tulip glass filled with ice, (optional: you can double strain to get the remnants of the pear and raspberry out of the finished product if you would like). Add soda water, leaving room for the float of maraschino liqueur. Garnish with a wedge of pear and two fresh raspberries.
