Drink of the Day: Co-Pilot Cocktail

Here’s another original I wanted to share, using the back flavor of vanilla to compliment the aromatic characteristics of the maraschino liqueur and Creme de Violette. The vanilla flavored vodka really rounds out the flavor well in this cocktail, giving you a nice and smooth flavor, while offering an abundance of aromas before the glass even gets to your lips. A perfect drink to sip on and enjoy the array of senses this beverage has to offer. So the vanilla didn’t override the other flavors of this, I only used a little vanilla vodka and used mostly unflavored vodka. Feel free to change the measure of these to best fit your taste.

This Drink of the Day has two ingredients that, at one time, were hard to come by. But, due to the popularity of craft bartending, these ingredients are very accessible and a great addition to your liquor cabinet. The Creme de Violette can still be somewhat of a challenge to find locally, but is easy to get on-line. Maraschino liqueur is usually found anywhere liquor is sold. With this cocktail, it will be worth the work to grab these ingredients and also experiment with finding your own to compliment your next party.

Co-Pilot

1 oz. Vodka

1/2 oz. Vanilla Infused Vodka

1/4 oz. Maraschino Liqueur

1/4 oz. Creme de Violette

1 oz . Orange Juice

 

Method: In a mixing glass filled with ice, pour in the ingredients to measure. Cap off with a tin and shake well. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Optional: To dress up the cocktail, add a half-wheel of orange and a maraschino cherry to the rim of the glass.
