Drink of the Day: Dorian Gray Frappe

October 16, 2014 | By | Add a Comment

A Happy Birthday shout-out goes to Oscar Wilde, who was an Irish Playwright and one known for his outlandish lifestyle back in his days. He lived a short life, but his work lives on. One of those works was the novel, The Picture of Dorian Gray. The Drink of the Day is named after this book.

One of Mr. Wilde’s favorite elixirs was absinthe. Lucid Absinthe, the first legally available absinthe after a 95 year ban in the United States, came up with this very refreshing cocktail. This is a great change from your everyday Mojito, giving you just enough anise flavor, while being a great compliment to the other ingredients, especially the mint. A nice well-balanced beverage you can enjoy during any outing.

Genuine absinthe (with Grande Wormwood) was re-authorized for sale after a 95 year hiatus, when Lucid creator T. A. Breaux negotiated with the US Government to create his absinthe only using techniques used over a century earlier, giving it a historically accurate product. In fact, it is distilled using the original antique copper absinthe stills that were used in distilling this product in the 1800s.

Lift a glass up and toast Mr. Wilde on his day while enjoying this amazingly tasty cocktail. Be sure to check out the video we have created on how to properly prepare this cocktail. Cheers!!
