Drink of the Day: Gin Rickey
Good Monday morning, everyone. Hope you all had a great long weekend. I definitely am done with turkey until next year. Now, off to another long work week. It’s also the beginning of a new month. Wow, December is already here. 2015 is just around the corner. Let’s get it started with a classic cocktail that has stood the test of time.
The Gin Rickey is a carbonated lime cocktail made with, of course, gin. It is one of a variety of “rickey’ cocktails. Just like a collins is made with lemon juice and soda, a rickey is lime juice and soda with any base liquor. These cocktails have been around since the late 1800’s and are still around due to their simplicity in preparing. They are also very refreshing.
A nice and easy one that will be easy to make and still give you a very tasty drink. Hope your Monday goes down as easy as this cocktail will. Enjoy! Cheers!
Gin Rickey
1 1/2 oz. Gin
1 oz. Freshly squeezed Lime Juice
Soda Water
Method: Build this in a highball glass filled with ice by first pouring in the gin and lime juice to measure. Top off with soda water. Stir. Add a wedge of lime of the rim of the glass for garnish.
