Drink of the Day: Greek American

December 29, 2014 | By | Add a Comment

Good Monday morning to all of you. The last Monday of 2014 and the beginning of a very short work week for the second consecutive week - that is if you didn’t take the last few of your vacation days off to finish off the year. Either way, I have a cocktail I came up with in 2013 that you will enjoy. It’s a perfect warmer-upper for the winter season.

This is a very simple cocktail to make, especially if you have some honey-infused bourbon whiskey lying around. If you don’t, you can use honey syrup to flavor the cocktail.

I made this introducing Big House Tupelo Honey Bourbon last year that was new to the market, but any infused honey bourbon will work fine. I have to admit that the tupelo honey is a nice blend for the whiskey with its nice, subtle, sweet notes. But, no matter which brand of honey infused bourbon you use, the combination of flavor and aroma will have you hooked on this drink.

Hope you have a pleasant beginning of your week. Cheers!

Greek American

2 oz. Honey Infused Bourbon

1/2 oz. Ouzo Greek Liqueur

Orange Rind

Method: In a brandy snifter, pour in some Ouzo. Swirl it around in the glass to where you have a nice layer of liqueur on every part of the inside. Dump out the excess. Add some ice, just enough to keep the cocktail cool. If you would prefer, don’t add any. Pour in the measured amount of bourbon. Take a piece of orange rind and twist it over the the cocktail. Rub it gently on the rim of the glass before dropping it in. Stir with a stir stick, then discard the stir stick.
