Drink of the Day: Greenback Cocktail
I guess I could suggest you using clear Creme de Menthe for this cocktail instead of the green variety. However, this would take away from the name of the drink, so I will leave it as is. A minty/citrus combination gin beverage that is surprisingly smooth, considering the amount of Green Creme de Menthe that’s going into it. The use of fresh lemon juice really calms down the drink and rounds out the flavors. Yes, you even get more from the flavor of the gin using the citrus.
This is a perfect after-dinner cocktail to mask those spicy and herbal meals that will be sure to linger on your breath. Well, this will extinguish any unpleasant and uncomfortable too-close-for-comfort conversations at one of these dinner parties. Plus, it will be a lot more enjoyable than that after-meal mint.
Enjoy your Saturday!
2 oz. Gin
1 oz. Green Creme de Menthe (feel free to use half the measurement to tone down on the minty characteristics of the cocktail).
Juice from one Lemon
Method: In a mixing glass filled with ice, add the first two ingredients to measure. Cut a lemon in half and proceed to squeeze the juices into mix, discarding the remnants of the lemon after doing so. Cap and shake to blend the ingredients. Strain into an old fashioned glass with ice.
