Happy Hump Day!

Here I am in the Midwest, where we are getting our first taste of what’s in store for us for these next few months. Mother nature sure knows how to slap you hard across the face this time of year. Luckily, we will be back up to the seasonal temperatures by the time the weekend gets here. Now for a Drink of the Day that will assist in making the wait a little easier.

This rum based cocktail has quite a few ingredients in it. But, with the amount of each ingredient put in, you will see that they are meant to only bring out the best of the rum itself and add character to the overall imbibing experience, not hiding the rum flavor but getting rid of the bite and giving you a nice and smooth, easy to go down beverage. The added flavors only gives your taste buds a great experience from the first sip to the very last.

This is a perfect aperitif and a nice relaxer after a busy day at the office. The combination of mint and citrus to go along with the rum itself, will have your taste buds dancing a happy tune. I hope you enjoy. Cheers!

Jade Cocktail

1 1/2 oz. Light Rum

1/2 tbsp. Green Creme de Menthe

1/2 tbsp. Triple Sec

1 tbsp. Lime Juice (you can use Rose’s Lime like I did when preparing on the video, but using fresh lime juice is better if you have it available).

1 tsp. Simple Syrup

Method: In a mixing glass filled with ice, pour in all the ingredients to measure. Cap with a tin and shake well. Strain into a nicely chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a lime wheel on the rim of the glass.
