Drink of the Day: Klondike Cooler

September 18, 2014 | By | Add a Comment

I live in the Midwest and we are already beginning to feel the autumn winds upon us. This drink will be sure to warm up your insides.

A very simple whiskey cocktail that depends on the aroma of lemon to give it its character. A nice relaxer during the cold months and a nice refresher during the warm ones, this is a nice year round beverage that any imbiber will enjoy.

The interesting thing about this cocktail is the way it’s prepared. Building it in the finished glass, it is a very easy drink to make and the aroma of lemon takes it to a new level. If whiskey is your liquor of choice, this is definitely a must-try!

Enjoy your Thursday! Cheers!

Klondike Cooler

2 oz. Soda Water

1/2 oz. Simple Syrup

1 1/2 oz. Bourbon Whiskey

Ginger Ale

Lemon Twist

Method: Add the simple syrup and soda water into a highball glass. Stir. Add ice and bourbon. Top off with ginger ale. Take a lemon peal and twist it over the glass, allowing the oils of the rind to disperse on top of the cocktail. Gently rub the twist on the rim of the glass before dropping it into the drink.
