Drink of the Day: The Last Word
Happy Hump Day, all! Man, is this week going fast. For me, this is the busiest time of the year. Working everyday, sometimes doubles, and loving every minute of it. Wish my body could say the same. I am definitely past my prime and I am reminded of that every morning while forcing myself out of bed. All I can say is Thank God for Advil!!!
Here is a great Prohibition Era cocktail that was first made at the Detroit Athletic Club in the 1920s. It is beginning to come back due to the craft bar craze we are seeing lately and for good reason. It is a unique cocktail, with all ingredients sharing center stage. It is equal parts of all four ingredients, two of those that are not common in your everyday bar set-up, but well worth getting to add to your home collection: Green Chartreuse and Maraschino Liqueur.
This cocktail is one you will want to have for the evening topper. It is a very aromatic drink, with a great combination of sweet and sour to go along with the fragrance that will match the flavor. Your senses will be on high alert.
I will admit, this cocktail may be a little much for some of you. If you are drinking a mixed drink to hide the flavor of liquor, this is not for you. If you are an imbiber that wants to try new and unique flavors and aromas, this is just the cocktail you are looking for.
How’s your holiday shopping going? After a couple hours at the mall, this is just what you’ll be looking for. Cheers!
