Drink of the Day: The Robson Cocktail

December 31, 2014 | By | Add a Comment

Before I get started today, I wanted to thank all of you who have been checking out the blog. We are building quite a bit of momentum going into 2015 and we wouldn’t be here without your interest in our Drink of the Day. Our numbers have doubled, in regards to views, the last few months. It’s been a great year! We are hoping to double the count again this coming year and build momentum for the future. Without your support and sharing our daily drinks, we would be unable to accomplish what we have. I look very forward to this coming year!

Now, let’s get to it. I really didn’t have anything in mind for today’s cocktail. I thought about sharing a Champagne drink, but I really wanted to share with you something that I will probably be having tonight.

If you have been following me these last couple years, you know that I am a big fan of a good rum. In fact, I usually will have an amber rum on the rocks with a squeeze of lime, and that will be all I need to satisfy me. However, there are times when I want to mix it up and add a little enhancement to my spirit of choice. This will be one of those days.

As much as I share and encourage imbibing on my blog, I feel it is important to also share that we are responsible for our own actions. Be responsible and safe tonight. You should always be, but there will be many more people out there enjoying and over-indulging than usual. You must be aware of your surroundings. Also, be safe for everyone else and be sure to not drink and drive. Make the coming of your New Year be filled with great memories and be sure to do the right things to prepare if you feel you may be overdoing it. Cabs are cheaper than the alternative. In fact, if you are going to be drinking at all, leave your car at home and find alternative means of transportation. Don’t let your fun be ruined by a moment of recklessness.

Okay, I will get off my soapbox. Have a happy, safe, and prosperous New Year, my friends. Peace and CHEERS!

Robson Cocktail

2 oz. Jamaican Amber Rum

1/2 oz. Orange Juice

Juice of half Lemon

Half a splash of Grenadine

Method: Pour all ingredients to measure in a mixing glass filled with ice. Cap with a tin and shake well. Strain into a nicely chilled cocktail glass. Take a rind of a lemon and twist it over the cocktail allowing the oils from the rind to disperse onto the drink. Rub the twist gently on the rim of the glass before dropping it into the drink.
