Drink of the Day: Saratoga Cocktail

February 4, 2015 | By | Add a Comment

A great hump day to you all! Hope your Wednesday is going well. If you are having a week to forget, the good side is that you are halfway to the weekend and it’s all down hill from here. Just a little more to tolerate.

We just got hit with yet another couple inches of snow last night, with more coming later tonight. First thing I could think about was relaxing later in front of a nice fire with a brandy cocktail. I think I may have found the one I may want to imbibe on when it’s time to call it a day.

Though I like to have a warm brandy in a snifter along with my coffee, sometimes I want something a little different. The aromatic properties that you will get with this drink, while luring the glass to your lips, will entice that first sip. Nothing like awakening a cocktail with some maraschino liqueur to give you more dimension. However, this is just a teaser. Once your taste buds get ahold of this, it will take the imbibing experience to another level. The pineapple gives it just enough sweetness and the bitters opens up yet another realm of flavor, all the while giving you just enough brandy flavor to satisfy your need. The fresh lemon seems to tie everything together nicely and smooths out the rough edges that are really hard to find in this combination anyway.

I hope you find this cocktail as enjoyable as I do. Cheers!
