Drink of the Day: Silent Third

November 22, 2014 | By | Add a Comment

Ah yes, a nice relaxing Saturday to start off in my world. Hopefully , you are having the same.

Here’s a nice little treat for you scotch imbibers today. A nice, smooth beverage that is a nice alternative to the scotch whisky on the rocks. I think you will agree that it brings out the best notes of the scotch itself, getting rid of the whisky bite at the same time.

Yes, I am aware that most of you that indulge in Scotch Whisky would only like to maybe lighten it up with a couple cubes of ice and some water. However, I feel that this cocktail does Scotch justice by exposing the true flavors of the spirit itself, and adding a couple ingredients to compliment it’s attributes. Once you experience the flavor of this drink, you will see what I’m talking about.

I do have to say that one should only use a blended whisky for this recipe. I still feel it is a sin to add anything more than ice to a single malt. But, then again, you will be the one enjoying your beverage, so you should be the one deciding which Scotch to use when putting one of these together. Another thing I am doing is changing an ingredient from the recipe I show off in the video that we shot a couple years ago. I have recently been introduced to a new product to the United States - Borducan Italian Orange Liqueur. It’s not new to the world, however, being around since 1872 in Europe. From here on out, this will be my orange liqueur of choice. I have become a fan.

Hope the rest of your weekend is full of fun and relaxation. Enjoy your Saturday. Cheers!
