Drink of the Day: Tailspin Cocktail

July 9, 2014 | By | Add a Comment

The sense of smell plays an important role with this cocktail. Gin is the prominent element here, with the herbal liqueur, Green Chartreuse giving it its aromatic character. The sweet vermouth acts as the perfect link to bring everything together. Want some salt with your beverage? How about a little more flavor by adding some orange bitters to give your taste buds an extra dimension?

Originally, this Drink of the Day cocktail called for equal parts of the three prominent ingredients. However, I feel that gin needs to play a significant role in this beverage to give it the right flavor. You be the judge. Cheers!

Tailspin Cocktail

2 oz. Gin

3/4 oz. Sweet Vermouth

3/4 oz. Green Chartreuse

2 Dashes of Orange Bitters

Method: In a mixing glass filled with ice, pour in the first three ingredients to measure. Cap and shake well. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Take an orange rind and twist it over the drink, allowing the oils from the peel to disperse on top of the cocktail. Rub it gently on the rim of the glass before dropping it into the drink. Add two dashes of orange bitters.
