Drink of the Day: Thoroughbred Cooler
I have reached a milestone that I am excited to share this morning. Today’s blog will be my 1000th one. Without you and your interest in our Drink of the Day, plus other stories we have posted on here the last few years, this would have never happened. I wonder where we will be when post number 2000 is up. Hopefully, it’s where I envision it to be. Since this time last year, we have almost tripled our daily audience. My goal is to double it yearly and I thought that goal was somewhat on the high end of wishful thinking. But, here we are. And I owe it all to you!
Thank you!!!
Now, let’s get to our Drink of the Day!
Since we have been making a lot of whiskey cocktails this past week, why stop? The one I’m introducing today is a well balanced, fruity beverage that goes well for those who want more than just their bourbon flavor. In fact, you may want to tone down on the secondary ingredients to bring out more of the back flavors the bourbon has to offer. The recipe I’m giving to you is the one that is called for. I will allow you to make that decision on your own.
Here’s a key fun-fact for you. There are some that believe that the word for a drink, “Cocktail”, derives from the same word that describes a mixed breed thoroughbred. Whenever there was a mixed breed racing in a race, a ribbon would be tied on their tail, so people watching would know that they were mixed breeds. In time, these mixed horses would be given the nickname “cocktails”. There are other opinions where the name derives, but this one always made the most sense to me. Interesting, huh?!
Have a great day, my friends. Thanks, again, for checking us out and please keep watching. Let me know if there are any cocktails you would like for me to share on here, so we can pass them on with those who are checking this out.
