Drink of the Day: Tipperary Cocktail

Happy Hump Day!

Lately, when introducing whisk(e)y to a cocktail, I have been giving you some examples of some quite sweet drinks. Today, I would like to introduce you to one that dates back to the turn of the 20th Century (1916). This is one you may want to remember for next month, when celebrating St. Patrick’s Day. This is a true sipper, folks; something to enjoy with every drop.

Originally, this cocktail called for equal parts of the three ingredients. However, the aromatic properties of the Chartreuse is a little much to be sharing stage with the Irish Whiskey. Toning down the sweet vermouth isn’t a bad idea either. Just keep in mind that I am only giving you what I feel is the best way to put this together. You will be the one enjoying this multi-faceted cocktail, so do what you need to do to give yourself the perfect combination for YOU!

The Tipperary Cocktail is not for those who are looking to mask the liquor in the drink. But, the combination works well in taming the harshness of the whiskey, giving your taste buds many layers of enjoyment. Even before the glass reaches your lips, your senses tingle with Chartreuse’s attributes, just adding another dimension of enjoyment to the imbibing experience.

So, without further ado, here’s a great drink from the past I think you will enjoy. Have a great Wednesday, my friends! Cheers!
