Drink of the Day: The Walters
For all of those who think that the Champagne brunch cocktails may be a little too bubbly for them, I’ve got a nice alternative. This is especially true for all you Scotch whisky imbibers out there.
Who says you have to stay with the Mimosa or Bellini when you can kick it up a notch and have a refreshing Scotch cocktail. This is just as easy to prepare as what has become the early day choice for drinkers out there, primarily because of the simplicity of putting a sparkling wine cocktail together. Plus, with the orange juice and fresh lemon juice as part of the drink, you are getting just as much in regards nutrients as you would with the above mentioned cocktails. Why not expand your drink menu, especially during the holidays. The Walters is also good during cocktail parties, or as the last drink on your dance card at the end of your evening. Whenever you decide to try one, you will be sure to appreciate the subtle notes of citrus to compliment your favorite blended scotch.

The Walters
2 oz. Blended Scotch Whisky
Splash of Orange Juice
Juice of half Lemon
Method: Place all ingredients to measure in a mixing glass filled with ice. Cap with a tin and shake well. Strain into a cocktail glass. Take an orange peel and twist it over the cocktail so that the oils from the rind disperse evenly on top of the drink. Rub the twist gently on the rim of the glass before dropping it into the drink.
