Drink of the Day: Bronx Cocktail
This time of year, especially in the cold regions like the area I live in, you want to find a cocktail that will not only give you the sense of comfort with every gratifying sip; you want to also feel that warmth that you receive from the inside out as you are imbibing. This drink is a perfect example of what I’m talking about.
The Bronx has been around for over 100 years and was common place at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City in the early 1900’s. As many cocktails saw their fate due to the Prohibition, this one has been revived due to the craft bar movement these last several years. If you like gin, this is one you will have to put on your list.
A nice cocktail hour sipper, dry vermouth and sweet vermouth combine well with the orange juice to give you just enough back flavor to bring out the best flavors of the gin. The orange juice does well in equalizing the other ingredients, giving you a nice, well-rounded beverage that gives you a surprisingly smooth finish.
Enjoy your day. A couple of these may be a great way to finish off the weekend. Cheers!
