Drink of the Day: Green Mile

August 5, 2015 | By | Add a Comment

Happy humpday everyone! Hope your Wednesday is treating you well.

Here is some interesting trivia for you. For most of you, it won’t be that big of deal. But, this invention has saved many lives and the first one of its kind was installed in my neck of the woods, so I felt it was important to mention.

Today marks the 101st anniversary of the first electric traffic signal being installed. It was put up at the corner of Euclid Avenue and East 105th Street in Cleveland, Ohio. As you know, the invention of the traffic light is probably not as celebrated as it should be. Could you imagine the chaos we would have on the roadways today if it wasn’t for this type of traffic control?

To celebrate this significant, yet forgotten, part of our history, I felt it would be a good day to introduce a cocktail that would best fit this event. The drink that I bring you today also matches the season. A rum-based cocktail that has citrus back notes and a melon finish. A refreshing treat for those who are enjoying this summer day.

A toast to the person who created a device that makes every mile we travel much safer and less chaotic. Cheers!
