Drink of the Day: Lemon Drop Shooter
Happy Friday, everyone! The weekend is finally here. It’s time to get out of work mode and more into the mood for rest and relaxation.
To kick off the weekend, here is a classic shooter that most of you have heard of and think you may have had at a bar. The problem is that they don’t make them the way they originally were put together and you are missing out. The way I’m going to teach you today is the real way of making it.
Now, you have to be careful when doing these shots, because this is one of those you catch on fire. There are a couple things to remember while doing these with friends:
1) Be sure the flame is out.
2) Let the shot sit for 30 seconds to allow the glass to cool down before shooting it.
A shame I can’t make these anymore for my patrons at the bar due to the laws that are in place for the flaming shots. However, if you are responsible and careful, this makes for a great conversation piece at a party.
Enjoy and always remember to drink responsibly. Cheers!
The Original Lemon Drop Shooter
1 oz. Vodka
1/2 oz. Galliano
151 Rum
Lemon half-circle (make sure the lemon is larger than the circumference of the shot glass)
Granulated Sugar
Matches
Method: Pour the vodka and Galliano in a 2oz. shot glass to measure. Lay the lemon half circle on top of the shot glass. Pour some sugar on top of the lemon. Slowly pour the 151 rum on top of the sugar lemon, trying not to disturb the sugar too much. Ignite the lemon with a match to allow the sugar to caramelize. Blow out the shot and allow to sit for at least thirty seconds before shooting.
