Drink of the Day: Mellow Yellow Bird
Happy First Day of Spring!
Though we still have some iffy weather in front of us, it’s good to know that we are on the right side of the wintertime. We could be talking bad temperatures in November. But, alas, spring is here and it is time to watch nature in all her glory.
Other than my sinuses, every part of me loves this time of year. It’s amazing how the trees seem to know when to start growing leaves, and everything seems to know when to bloom. Best yet, the Arctic climate has gone away until next winter. After this one, I am going to enjoy every day above freezing and not complain about it being too hot.
I have found a cocktail that will take you into the new season nicely. It is the perfect name for the what your state of mind will be after enjoying its multitude of flavors. Also, there is an ingredient in this drink that people have a hard time finding uses for. Hopefully, after you try this concoction, you will be adventurous enough to attempt other recipes on your own using this ingredient. Galiano is a great mixer and gives cocktails another dimension. As you will soon find out, it goes perfect with rum and fruit juices.
Also, this is a video I made a few years ago. I am going to replace the Cointreau with Borducan Orange Liqueur in the recipe below. However, use what you have available. Unfortunately, we are still waiting for Borducan to become more readily available in the United States. If you are fortunate enough to have it available in your area, I highly recommend giving it a try.
