Drink of the Day: New Yorker Cocktail
I have been keeping on a gin tear these last few days, so I felt it would be nice to bring out a cocktail that had a different base liquor in it today. Here is one that uses rye whiskey as it’s foundation.
In this mixed drink, the secondary flavors are used just enough to give you a little of flavor and take the bite out of the whiskey, yet still show off enough of the back flavor of the spirit to keep it respectable for all you whiskey lovers out there.
Keeping the blog short and sweet today. Let’s just get down to the recipe. Have a great day, everybody!
2 oz. Rye Whiskey
1/2 oz. Simple Syrup
1/2 oz. Fresh Lime Juice
Splash of Grenadine.
Method: Combine all ingredients into a mixing glass filled with ice. Cap with a tin and shake well. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Take a lemon peel and twist it over the cocktail. Rub the twist gently on the rim of the glass before dropping it into the drink.
