Drink of the Day: Stormy Colada
Today, I figured I would start the week right by introducing a nice twist to a classic. A very tasty rum beverage that will go down perfect after your Monday work activities are complete. Couldn’t think of a better way to finish the day.
Cocktails made with ginger beer are going strong, with Moscow Mules selling like crazy. At the bar I am employed, this is still probably one of the most popular cocktails on the menu; even with all the specialty cocktails I showcase. And, why not? These are very tasty drinks, I have to admit. For the novice imbiber, this is a perfect mixed beverage to have at dinnertime. There are many variations of cocktails made with a particular spirit as the base, then adding the ginger beer as a wash. But, why don’t bring another ingredient to the party to give you even more pleasure to the drinking experience?
This is a cocktail I found while looking for unique combinations that I thought you would enjoy. Adding pineapple juice to the rum and ginger beer combination, then adding a touch of lime, gives you a nice and refreshing summertime concoction that is easy to make and keeps your taste buds busy with every sip.
I wish you a great start to your work week. Hopefully, this cocktail will put an exclamation point on a spectacular day. Cheers!
1 1/2 oz. White Rum
1 oz. Pineapple Juice
Ginger Beer
Wedge of Lime
Method: Build this in a highball glass filled with ice by first pouring in the first two ingredients to measure. Top off with ginger beer. Squeeze in the juice from a wedge of lime, then drop the wedge into the cocktail. Add a straw and serve.
