Drink of the Day: Torridora Cocktail
Once again, the weekend is just around the corner. Amazing how fast these weeks keep rolling along, isn’t it? At least in my world, time is flying by rather quickly of late. I am going to introduce a cocktail today to slow things down a little. A rum and brandy based cream beverage that goes down so smooth, you will be surprised on the liquor to wash ratio. Don’t let the flavor fool you; this one will do it’s job rather quickly if you are not careful. Sipping this to capture its many notes is my recommendation.
The cream is more used as a binder to blend in the liquors associated in making this cocktail. It does a fine job harnessing the many flavors and making them one. The texture makes for a great dessert beverage and will be a perfect compliment to a fine dinner.
Hoping your day is full of enrichment. Cheers!
1 1/2 oz. White Rum
1/2 oz. Brandy
1/2 oz. Coffee Liqueur
3/4 oz. Cream
Splash 151 Rum
Method: Combine all the ingredients, except the 151 rum, in a mixing glass with ice. Cap and shake well. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Top off with a splash of 151 rum.
This Day in History:
1616 - Playwright William Shakespeare died Stratford-on-Avon, England.
1954 - Hank Aaron hit his first major league home run.
1969 - Sirhan Sirhan was sentenced to death for the assassination of Robert Kennedy. It would later be reduced to a life sentence.
1985 - In what would later be conceived as one of the biggest marketing flops, Coca-Cola announced that they would be changing the formula of their cola and introduced New Coke.
Notable Birthday:
William Shakespeare was born on this date in Stratford-on-Avon, England in 1564….supposedly. There is no true record of his birth, so it is conceived that the date that he died was also used for his date of birth by someone who had a part in the annals of history.
Notable Quote:
“Better a witty fool than a foolish wit.” - William Shakespeare
