Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Before I get started, I noticed that when you get the email, you are not seeing the video that is involved in making the cocktail if you don’t open the link of the email. I can see that being convenient for those who want a quick glance. However, today is different. I am asking that you take a look at the video that is involved in the cocktail preparation. It was something I put together a couple years ago with my buddy and we had a lot of fun with it. I wanted to get some input on what you thought, because we are looking at doing something like this more often. Now, let’s get back to it….

Since this is known as a drinking holiday, I felt it only right to introduce you to two cocktails today. Plus, with this past six days having a St. Patrick’s Day theme, I felt that seven cocktails just wasn’t enough to have for your cocktail inventory. I think you will enjoy the selection of today’s Drinks of the Day.

The first one is very easy to make and is what one calls a “buck” cocktail. This means that it has ginger beer and lime juice in it. The most common of this type of beverage is the Moscow Mule. The only difference in that and the Irish Buck is changing the liquor from vodka to Irish Whiskey.

Here’s the recipe:

Irish Buck

2 oz. Irish Whiskey

Ginger Beer

2 Wedges of Lime

Method: Build this in an old fashioned glass filled with ice by first pouring in the whiskey to measure. Top off with ginger beer. Squeeze in two wedges of lime. Stir and serve.

This second one is a lot of fun. It’s a shooter that is a great conversation piece to any party. The combination of the shot, plus the added bonus of an orange juice wash, really give this drink some curb appeal. Enjoy with caution, because this goes down very smoothly.

Irish Breakfast

1 oz. Irish Whiskey

1/2 oz. Butterscotch Schnapps

Orange Juice

Method: Pour about 3 oz. orange juice into an old fashioned glass and set it off to the side. In a shot glass, pour the Irish whiskey and butterscotch schnapps to measure. To do this shot properly, first drink the shot, then wash it down with the orange juice. Just to give it another dimension, add a piece of crisp bacon as a garnish.

Have a fun and safe St. Patrick’s Day! Cheers!
