The Emerald Isle is March 13th Drink of the Day!!
Here’s a great St. Patrick’s Day cocktail if only for the color of it. A minty gin cocktail that is a good sipper; a complete opposite of what I introduced for yesterday’s Drink of the Day. The Emerald Isle is meant to enjoy while immersed in conversation. A well balanced beverage if made properly, you do not want to overdo the Creme de Menthe in this. Plus, the orange twist and aromatic bitters does wonders toning it down to where it’s more tolerable.
This is cocktail number four of five, to help us get to St. Patrick’s Day weekend. Be sure, when trying these beverages, to do it in a responsible manner. Especially with the holiday weekend, the police are in force to enforce the laws. Play it safe for not only you; play it safe for everyone on the road by doing what’s right and find a way home via cab or public transportation when enjoying these beverages.
Emerald Isle
2 oz. Gin
1/2 oz. Green Creme de Menthe
2 Dashes of Aromatic Bitters
Method: In a mixing glass filled with ice, pour in the measured amount of the first two ingredients. Cap off with a tin and shake well. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Add a couple dashes of aromatic bitters and stir. Take an orange rind and twist it over the drink allowing the oils to disperse over the cocktail. Rub gently on the rim of the glass before dropping the twist into the drink.
