The Outrigger is May 28th Drink of the Day!!

Memorial Day, in my mind, is the kick-off to the summer season, so this is the perfect Drink of the Day for those who like to take in the sunshine and hang around by the pool. I can also see myself imbibing on one of these while listening to the good sounds of someone playing some tunes from their guitar on a cool summer’s night while enjoying the heat coming from the bonfire. No matter where you will be enjoying one of these, this is a great tiki bar cocktail that, if you like rum, will become one of your favorites.

Fruit juice and rum are just what the doctor called for when the weather starts getting tolerable, and we have seen the last frost until next fall. Time to blow up the water rafts! Before doing so, make sure you make yourself one of these.

The Outrigger Cocktail

1 1/2 oz. Rum

3/4 oz. Amaretto

1/2 oz. Cranberry Juice

1/2 oz. Pineapple Juice

Splash of Dark Rum

Method: In a mixing glass filled with ice, pour in the first four ingredients to measure. Cap off with a tin and shake well. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Add a splash of dark rum. Garnish with an orange wheel on the rim of the glass.
