Today is the date when the fighting at the Alamo, in San Antonio, Tx started taking place. Mexican General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna led the battle which would end on March 2nd of that year. By the end of the battle, Santa Anna’s troops would take over the Alamo, killing up to 250 Texas defenders.

I felt it just to remember the Alamo the best way I know how, to introduce a cocktail named after this place in time.

The Alamo Cocktail
1 1/2 oz. Southern Comfort
Grapefruit juice
One Maraschino Cherry

Method: In an Old Fashioned glass filled with ice, pour the Southern Comfort then top off with grapefruit juice. Add cherry as a garnish. Optional: Rim the glass with granulated sugar.
