The beginning of the end was near. Britain would take one final last stand in Yorktown, Virginia. With British General Cornwallis on command, and his wartime manuevers legandary, there seemed no doubt the British would get the upper hand again in the War against the New World Order. However, it wasn’t meant to be. George Washington and his men would capture Cornwallis and claim victory in what would be the last major battle of the war on this day in 1781. In 1783 it became official. Brittain would grant the United States their freedom and we would truly become a free nation.

I have found a cocktail named after this war. Be sure to take your time with this one, due to it being all liquor, you may want to have something to wash it down with. I’ll let you be the judge.

American Revolution
1 1/2 oz. Gin
1 1/2 oz. Bourbon
Dash of Angostura Bitters
Orange Peel
Sour Cherries for Garnish

Method: Start by pouring the gin on top of the orange peel at the bottom of an old fashioned glass, then add the dash of bitters. Muddle these ingredients together. Add ice. Finish off drink by adding the bourbon. Stir and serve.
