The Apple-tini is April 1st Drink of the Day!!
I have been contemplating coming up with a cocktail that did not exist, or one that would trick your senses, that would coincide with All-Fools’ Day. But, that would just make me one of the thousand blogs out there that are doing the same. So, I’ve decided to stick with trying to match the drink with something that happened in history on this day.
In 1976, the computer age for the retailer began with the birth of Apple Computer. Not even they could have ever envisioned what they would be able to create in the next thirty-plus years. Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak would revolutionize the world in the coming years, and with the competition from Microsoft, build a society based on e-mail, digital networking, and cell phones, to name a few.
Who ever thought that when these guys brought Apple on-board as a company, that they weren’t fooling when they said they would change the world as we know it?
Well, there is no connection between the drink and the company other than the name itself. Here’s a drink that will make you think of apple orchards during harvest season, not sitting down in front of your home computer writing blogs.
Apple-tini
1 1/2 oz. Vodka
3/4 oz. Cointreau
3/4 oz. Apple Pucker
3/4 oz. Sour Mix
Method: Pour all ingredients into a shaker with ice. Shake well then strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with one maraschino cherry.
