The B-52 Shooter is December 30th Drink of the Day!!
Another drink I think should be introduced before going into the New Year is one that is a favorite of mine due to the talents and patience of the guy or gal making it. I do have to say, being one who serves these on occasions, to wait until the bar is somewhat easy and not getting slammed when ordering one, if you want the drink made correctly; you will understand here in a minute.
This is a layered cocktail, what we in the business call a pousse cafe. You first put in the the most dense, or heaviest liqueur, then go from there until your final ingredient will be the least dense, or lightest liqueur. If you do this correctly, you will have a layered drink. It all comes down to patience on how well you’ll do putting this together. You will be happy with the results if you are.
I have always enjoyed a good B-52. With it only involving threee liqueurs, this won’t be too difficult for you. But, you must take your time to get a nice, finished result. Even if you’re not successful with the layering, you’ll enjoy the flavor.
B-52
3/4 oz. Kahlua
3/4 oz. Irish Cream
3/4 oz. Grand Marnier
Method: Begin by pouring the Kahlua into a port glass, (yes, bigger than a shot glass to give you some room). Take a spoon and turn it upside down to where you are looking at the bottom of it and place it over the glass, with the tip of the spoon just touching the kahlua or pretty close. Pour the Irish cream over the spoon, dispersing the liqueur on top of the kahlua. Do this slowly. Repeat the same when adding the Grand marnier.
