The B52 is May 17th Drink of the Day!!
This is a layered cocktail; those of us in the business know as a pousse cafe. You first will put in the most dense, or heaviest liquor, then go from there until your final ingredient will be the lightest, or least dense. If you do this correctly, and slowly, your finished drink will be layered nicely. It all comes down to how patient you are on pouring each ingredient on top of the other. Allowing the next ingredient to be dispersed evenly on top of the previous one with the least amount of pressure, just to ensure there is the least bit of infiltration between the ingredients. You want to keep them seperated. No matter how good you become at making one of these, you will sometimes fail miserably on getting perfect layers. However, you will still have a very flavorable drink even if you don’t succeed. Enjoy!
Kahlua
Baileys Irish Cream
Grand Marnier
All equal parts
Method: Be sure to pour in the ingredients as written to give yourself the best chance of success when layering. Take a cordial glass and start out by pouring in about 1/2 oz. of Kahlua. Take a spoon and, with the rounded back of the spoon facing you, place the tip of the spoon just touching the kahlua. Pour the Irish cream on top of the spoon, so it disperses nicely and softly on top of the kahlua. Do this slowly. Repeat this step when pouring in the Grand Marnier.
