Though there have been fashions somewhat like this for many years prior, the true modern-day bikini design was first seen at a Paris Fashion Show on this date in 1946. Louis Reard, a French Engineer, is responsible for the design and name of this new fasion. Mr. Reard thought he would cause a stir to show more midsection and navel. Just a few days ealier, atomic bomb testing took place at the Bikini Atoll. He felt that the excitement of this new fashion would be just as explosive as the bombing itself, hence the name this new fashion was given. It would take a couple decades for this two-piece bikini to be accepted by the majority. Now, the many styles of bikinis have annual sales of over $800 Million.

To put emphasis to this new fashion design, I have found a drink that shares its name. Another great summertime cocktail to share with some friends.

The Bikini Cocktail
2 oz. Vodka
1 oz. Light Rum
1/2 oz. Milk
Juice from 1/2 a Lemon
