The Black Tuesday Cocktail is October 29th Drink of the Day!!
In what would be the day that would signal the coming of the ten year Great Depression, on this date in 1929, the New York Stock Exchange crashed. This would cause mayhem in the streets and would be the beginning of many years of Depression that would take many years to overcome in this country. After ten years considered some of the best this country had seen during the Roaring Twenties Era, the next decade would be just the opposite. In fact, some of the reason the Depression hit as hard as it did was the loans that were out to invest in the stock market. Loans owed during this time was more money that was circulated in the United States economy in 1929. Just a week prior to Black Tuesday, the stock market was at an all time high. Who ever thought it would ever change over night like it did? As a country today, we must take heed to this history and be sure not to relive it.
To mark this day in history, I’ve found a drink that’s on the menu at Johnny Farina’s, an Italian Restaurant in Ottawa, Ontario. Unlike the bitter history this drink is named for, it’s a very sweet drink. I hope you enjoy.
1/2 oz. Raspberry Liqueur
1/2 oz. Melon Liqueur
1/2 oz. Amaretto
Cranberry Juice
Method: Pour the measured ingredients into an Old Fashioned glass filled with ice. Top off with cranberry.
