Happy 100th Birthday Fenway Park!!

Today marks the 100th anniversary of this prestigious home of the Boston Red Sox. It has seen many things in it’s history, such as the first time people had the opportunity to see Babe Ruth play ball. With that, let’s not forget the “Curse of the Bambino” that, many fans feel, caused the BoSox many years of not winning a World Series.

The first game was not actually a sanctioned game, but mearly a expedition, with the Red Sox beating Harvard’s baseball team 2 - 0. A true game against another pro team would happen eleven days later. Today, its the oldest professional baseball stadium and, just this year, has officially been registered as a Historic Landmark.

To mark this day, I have found a drink to tribute the town that it’s been in and the fans who have just recently enjoyed several years of winning baseball, including two World Series wins by the home team.

The Bostonian Cocktail
1 oz. Gin
1/2 oz. Sweet Vermouth
Splash of Orange Juice
Juice of 1/2 Lemon
1/2 tsp. Sugar
3 sprigs of Mint

Method: In a shaker glass, place the mint sprigs, sugar, and both fruit juices in the bottom of a shaker glass. Muddle together well. Add the gin and sweet vermouth then the ice. Shake well then strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

This day in history:

1959 - NASA announed their selection of America’s first astronauts.
2005 - Britain’s Prince Charles married Camilla Parker Bowles.

Notable Birthday:
