The Boy Scout Cocktail is August 21st Drink of the Day!!
The Boy Scouts of America was formed in 1910 to assist in making the youths of society more well rounded citizens through camping, hiking and outdoor activities. There were merit badges that would be earned to give them status within their communities. The highest rank one can achieve as a Boy Scout is that of the Eagle Scout. There have been over 2 million scouts who have reached this status since. The first to receive Eagle Scout was Arther R. Eldred of Oceanside, NY of Troop 1 on this date in 1912.
I need to state that I was somewhat perplexed on making this the drink of the day. The Boy Scouts frown upon drinking no matter what age they are. However, I couldn’t miss the opportunity to share this drink with you I found on-line. I am not a fan of underage drinking, myself. I also believe that responsibility needs to lay on the individual that decides to have a libation or two when they are of drinking age. I am doing this to remember this day in history which, I feel, needed to be recognized. The Boy Scouts of America is an institution that’s done great things for the youth of our country. Me not sharing this day in history would have been just as unjust.
