The Caberet Cocktail is March 12th Drink of the Day!!

Liza Minnelli, actress/singer/daughter of Judy Garland, was born on this day in 1946. For decades, Liza has entertained us with her acting and singing. Her accomplishments are many and have spanned the last three generations.

Liza won her first Acadamy Award in 1972 for her role in the movie, “Caberet”, where she won for Best Actress. To celebrate her birthday today, and to recognize the honor of this award, I’d like to introduce you to a drink that was first noted in the book, “The Savoy Cocktail Book”, by Harry Haddock (1930).

The Cabernet Cocktail
1 oz. Hendrick’s Gin
3/4 oz. Lillet Blanc
1/4 oz. Benedictine
1 Dash Angostura Bitters
1 Dash Absinthe
Maraschino Cherry (Garnish)

Method: Pour all ingredients into a shaker with ice. Stir well, then pour into chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a Maraschino Cherry
