This is a true American Dream story: This man was born in Scotland and came over to the United States as a teenager to find work. He would work many hours in manufacturing, until finding a job in the new telegraph industry, where he would work his way up the ladder. He would eventually save up enough money to buy a steel mill, where he would revolutionize the industry to be a giant here in the United States. He earned every penny of his money through hard work and dedication to his plan. Once he began making his riches, he would concentrate on the education of youth, opened up a performance hall for upcoming talent, and would become the 19th century’s most influential philanthropists until the day he passed. This man’s name is Andrew Carnegie. If only everyone had the dedication to become what they imagined, we would see less talk and a lot more action; the mindset our country desperately needs. Today is Mr. Carnegie’s birthday.

To celebrate the day of birth of this incredible individual, I’ve found a drink named after him. This is truly a unique drink; one that combines the peat flavor of scotch with cream and fruit. The mint and orange garnish seals the deal! I hope you enjoy.

Carnegie Cocktail

1 1/4 oz. Scotch

1 oz. Irish Cream Liqueur

3 oz. Cranberry Juice

Mint Sprigs (Garnish)

Orange Slice (Garnish)

Method: Pour the scotch, irish cream and cranberry juice into a shaker with ice. Shake well, then strain into a cocktail glass with ice. Garnish with mint sprigs and an orange slice.
