The D.N.A. Shooter is June 26th Drink of the Day!!

In 1990, the Human Genome Project was put together. It was an international effort to map human DNA for scientists to better understand us and find ways to manipulate cell structure to hinder various diseases our species has suffered through for our existance.

This project was set to take roughly fifteen years to complete. On this date in 2000, scientists had already put together a rough draft map of human DNA. It would be another three years before they would have a foundation of their findings, two years ahead of what was planned.

I found a drink that can be a little bit of a challenge for you novices. This will take patience on your part to make this.

D.N.A. Shooter
1 oz. Gin
1/2 oz. Blue Curacao
Frozen Strawberries
Pinapple Juice
Powdered Sugar
Lime Juice

Method: Place strawberries and lime juice into a blender. Puree for ten - fifteen seconds, then set to the side. Use about six to eight strawberries and 2 oz. lime juice for this.
Take a port glass and dip the rim into lime juice to moisten, then dip it into a saucer of powdered sugar. Take gin and pour it into the port glass. Tip the glass at an angle, then allow the blue curacao to run down the inner part of the glass, eventually layering at the bottom of the glass. Retrieve the puree mixture of the strawberries and pineapple juice. With a spoon, lightly place this onto the top of the contents of the port glass. You should have enough of the puree mixture to satisfy ten - twelve shots.
