The Fletcher Christian is April 28th Drink of the Day!!

The world’s most famous mutiny happened on this day, back in 1789. The Mutiny on the Bounty occured, led by Fletcher Christian. Captain Bligh and eighteen of his most loyal followers were set adrift on a small boat due to the Captain’s tyranny. But, was this the only reason? Many historians believe it was due to most of the men of the crew wanting to go back to Tahiti, the last port they had landed on prior to this event.

Once the Captain and the others were set adrift, the Bounty set sail back to Tahiti, where most would stay and the others would set sail, looking for paradise with thier new-found loves - the women that they had met. They would eventually find the small island of Pitcairn and would make it home. By the time they were found, eighteen years later, all but one of the mutineers was dead due to murder or suicide. They left behind many decendants, and many of their generations still colonize this 1.75 square mile volcanic island.

I have found the most unique drink to date; one I find will be a challenge to someone who wants to try it. It may take some time to find what you need for this cocktail. However, consider how much more gratifying this drink will be once you are able to make it.

Bill from “Okay, Check it Out” submitted this to The Bitter Truth website. This company has some great bitters and liqueurs that were well known before the Prohibition, but have gotten lost through time. This site is well worth checking out: www.the-bitter-truth.com

The Fletcher Christian
1 oz. The Bitter Truth Celery Bitters
3/4 oz. St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur

3 Drops Elixir Vegetal (Green Chartreuse if you can’t find this ingredient).

Method: Pour ingredients into a shaker filled 3/4 with ice. Shake well and strain into a cocktail glass.
