The Fleurs D’Orange Cocktail is July 14th Drink of the Day!!
Happy Bastille Day! On this date in 1789 the French Revolution began when rebel forces stormed the Bastille, a Prison fortress that held political prisoners. The French, today, consider this the day French began its freedom from the Royals who were gaining more power by the day prior to this epic event. Within four years, King George XVI would be executed and the new way of rule, where there would be more equality and freedom, would begin to take shape. There would more years of war and turmoil that would take place between this time and now. Beginning with this Revolution and followed by other wars, there would be many years of unrest to get to where France is today.
To celebrate Bastille Day, or Fete National, I would like to introduce a drink who’s main ingredient comes from France. Cointreau, an orange liqueur, has been manufactured since 1875, with millions of bottles being sold in 150 countries around the world. It is considered by many here in the United States as the “rich man’s triple sec”, being used in top-shelf, premium cocktails such as Margaritas and Long Island Iced Teas. Today, I’d like to introduce to you another concoction you can add to your list. Enjoy!
